we had a shark encounter on 6/3 an manjack a few hundred yards from the anchoring buoy at the north end of the reef. i speared a 8lb. black grouper with a shot to the backbone. the grouper did not move or bleed after the spear hit him. i immediately got him in the air. than a 6ft. and a 4ft. reef shark showed up. i was only 20ft. from the dinghy. the 6 footer made a beeline for me. as he came within 3-4 ft. i slammed the grouper into the water to give him the fish. the splash spooked him and he moved off. i got the grouper into the air again and got in the dinghy with the fish. the sharks seem to be getting as agressive further south as they are around spanish cay.
