I reread your message and realized that you were looking for other locations. The only thing I would add is that grey snapper can be found almost everywhere. They love to hang out around docks (they are the fish you see all around the docks at restaurants, etc.) The technique I described will work for a few fish just about anywhere so you may be able to catch a meal right off your dock. Also, you mention a "spool". If that means a hand line (no rod and reel), DO NOT try to catch a barracuda as I described - It's lightning fast, powerful run might take a finger off!
