My hat is off to you. I have watched several friends of mine build or attempt to build houses in the Abacos since I started visiting in 1967. I personally wouldn't do it. I have a friend now on one of the Cays who is having an addition built on his place by a well-known, reputable builder. This project has been underway for about 1.5 years. It was contracted for four months. That being said, builders in the Bahamas are no worse than those in the states.

You are right, education and planning will make the project go a lot smoother. It can obviously be done. Just look around. I consider myself VERY laid back and in sync with the Bahamian style. HOWEVER, I don't have the guts to build a house. There are special issues and problems to be dealt with. One has to be ready for that.

BTW, who am I speaking to????

Steve
